This is a one-semester, sixteen-week economics course. We will be using the book Basic Economics, A Natural Law Approach to Economics by Clarence B. Carson, Paul A. Cleveland“

This economics course was designed from the lens of traditional free-market, limited government principles, with hearty acknowledgment of our country’s Judeo-Christian roots. It contains suitable material for 1/2 credit with honors for your high school transcript.

What You Will Learn

  • Principles that will help you stand up to the teaching of liberal college professors who think it is their job to help you abandon them
  • Knowledge needed to understand and defend free markets
  • How natural law, free market principles influenced the writing of our constitution that made it unique and a major leap forward in all world history
  • How this model built the world’s greatest economic powerhouse and how we have been destroying it
  • The history of successes and failures of elected officials in implementing policies that are inline with these principles
  • The history of socialism in America and around the world clearly pointing out its weaknesses and disastrous results
  • Honest examination of bad decisions and the consequences they brought
  • Which current policy proposals ensure the greatest human flourishing for everyone
  • Clear understanding of what rights are and from where they come
  • Importance of having a citizenry with morality based in Judeo-Christian principles
  • Examination of major historical politico-economic systems to understand what led to the rise of free market systems
  • How to set up a household budget and the effects of various choices as to how you spend your money 
  • Many study habits and skills that will be useful if you take college courses in the future

Budget Project

“Many teens can’t wait to get out on their own so they can make their own decisions about what they do and what they spend money on. But they have never considered all the expenses that entails. While working on the Budget Project, students will learn:

  • Categories of expenses for living on your own that students may never have considered
  • Opportunities to research realistic costs for needed expenses
  • The impact of income tax withholding on take-home pay
  • The impact of paying off debt for college or other expenses
  • Necessity of making choices as to where you spend your income
  • The impact of different choices and priorities for the amount you will have left for “discretionary” options
  • How not planning ahead could leave you with too much month at the end of your money”

Registration

$200 for one-semester course only

If registering for both Government (first semester) and Economics (second semester), early registration fee is $175.

After August 1, 2024 class registration fee will increase to $200 per class.

Early Registration fee, $200, by August 1, 2024 (if taking economics course without government in first semester).

Class registration fee will increase to $225 after August 1, 2024.

Non-Refundable Deposit of $50 holds your students spot in the class.

The remaining balance is due by January 9th, 2025.
