This is a one-semester, sixteen-week government course. We will be using the Basic American Government book by Clarence B. Carson.

This American government course was designed from the lens of conservative founding principles, with hearty acknowledgment of our country’s Judeo-Christian roots. It contains suitable material for 1/2 credit with honors for your high school transcript.

What You Will Learn

  • Knowledge needed to understand and defend the American constitutional form of government
  • What conflicts led up to the writing of our constitution that made it unique and a major leap forward in all world history
  • The history of successes and failures of elected officials in leading the U.S. by our constitution
  • Honest examination of bad decisions and the consequences they brought
  • Which current policy proposals ensure the greatest human flourishing for everyone
  • Clear understanding of what rights are and from where they come
  • Importance of having a citizenry with morality based in Judeo-Christian principles
  • How to research and write a research paper on a government policy topic
  • Many study habits and skills that will be useful if you take college courses in the future
  • Principles that will help you stand up to the teaching of liberal college professors who think it is their job to help you abandon them

Biblical Application

Students will learn to practically apply God’s Word in answering questions such as: 

  • What does the Bible have to say about society’s institutions regarding their limits and boundaries?
  • Has God established a particular role for Government?
  • What systems of Government allow for the best means of stewardship?
  • Are the principles that our country was founded upon outdated or timeless and still applicable for today?

Students will also work through important issues our society is directly faced with today and be able to decipher thoughtful, clear ideas on how to best engage by practically using God’s Word as a lens.

Discussing Issues

Is society’s common understanding of Social Justice in line with what the Bible has to say about Justice?

Does censorship on “hate speech” benefit humanity? If so, by whose standards?

Registration

$200 for one-semester course

If registering for both Government (first semester) and Economics (second semester), early registration fee is reduced to $175 per class.

After August 1, 2024 class registration fee will increase to $200 per class.

Early Registration fee, $200, by August 1, 2024 (if taking government course without economics second semester).

Class registration fee will increase to $225 after August 1, 2024.

Non-Refundable Deposit of $50 holds your students spot in the class.

The remaining balance is due by August 22, 2024
